Sorry to hear that. Michele and I were there at 2pm but we were told that all slots(15) been filled since sep. and that we could not go on the hike because we had signed up on "meetup" last night but did not reserve by phone. The lady said we could wait to see how many would show up but we didn't want to have to stand outside in the cold waiting with our dogs, so we hiked on our own.

That's a bit mysterious, Warren, because I signed up on meetup, about a week ago, but didn't phone, and I was able to attend.
I agree. We thought it was odd also because it didn't seem that two more people would make a difference either way. Maybe, the problem was asking permission in advance instead of forgiveness afterwards. :-)

I don't think 2 or more people would have made a difference, either, Warren. There was only me and a mom and her 4 children on the Tree Identifier hike, so that makes 7 people, with the guide. That's certainly a lot less than the 15 people limit for the group. I showed up about 10 minutes late for the hike, so maybe that's what you have to do! Also, I believe for one of the hikes I've been on (don't remember which one) I was told that you didn't have to call if you'd signed up on meetup.Maybe someone should check with the manager at the Nature Center, and clarify whether you have to call if you want to go on a hike with this group, or if it's enough to sign up on meetup.

Yes, thanks. We'll do that. Michele said she spoke to a woman behind the counter and the ranger/guide she thought was leading the hike and they were pretty clear at the time. No biggie, but a bit frustrating. Doesn't seem like everyone was on the same page. However, in their defense, the meetup statement did say to call, we just forgot. Still, it seemed a little odd to

oops... to refuse us.

Yes, it does, Warren. I hope to see you and Michele on a hike sometime. Are you two going on any of the Gratitude hikes this Friday?
No not this Friday , too many visitors coming. But hopefully we'll make one soon.
I thoroughly enjoyed Jean's lesson on identifying some of the trees in the area, and the hike to find representative trees, even though it was chilly today!
