Event on April 5

Hello everyone!

I would like to pass along an event that the History Center is having that may interest a number of you.  On Saturday, April 6 from 11am - 1pm, meet Francine Segan, TV personality, film buff, food historian, and author.  She will trace America’s sweet tooth back to 1776 when ladies sold delicious brandy- and fruit-flavored “Election Cakes” outside polling centers during the all-day voting process. Discover what happened to desserts during WWII sugar rationing and why the expression, “American as apple pie,” is a huge mistake. Learn the amusing history and fun stories associated with some of our most loved desserts: Martha Washington’s Currant Cake, Boston Cream Pie, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Chocolate chip cookies, the 1930’s classic “Mystery Cake,” and many more.

  • 11am - 1pm program followed by book signing
  • All Retro Game Night Meetup members receive the member rate of $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12.
  • Call 407-836-7010 for tickets and let the reservationist know that you are a member

Hope to see you at the event!
