Description of Levels and Q/A

We will be hiking in the State Park behind the Ice Cream Machine, across the street from the Town of Cumberland park and ball fields.

Few people are aware that across the road from the well known former Diamond Hill ski area is a large public access property with many trails ideal for hiking. There are many interesting features including ledges, old stone foundations, marshy areas, old cemeteries...basically all you can hope for to make it a great place to spend a morning or afternoon. The terrain is typical woodland with rocky and root lined paths, there are some wider trails with loose rock. Although mountain bikers have discovered it as evidenced by some elaborate ramp constructions, there is plenty of space for all to enjoy.

The trails are not well marked so hopefully we don't get lost. Ha!

Bring plenty of water, a snack, bug spray, waterproof shoes, and dress appropriately with multiple layers for the weather, while avoiding cotton. Ticks are still present so please plan accordingly.

Directions:
The parking area for Diamond Hill State Park will be on your Left next to address 4174 Diamond Hill rd. We will meet in the parking lot. If you reach the Ice Cream Machine, you went too far.
