Due to the coronavirus situation in LA County, RLadies LA and our other local R users groups are moving our usual meetups online for the next few months. Our first virtual meetup will be Saturday, March 28, at 10am. Amanda Tilot will give a tutorial on using RMarkdown for data analysis and reporting.
"Better data communication & organization with RMarkdown"
What do a static PDF, an interactive HTML document, a personal website, and a slide deck all have in common? You can build them in R with RMarkdown! In this tutorial, we'll work through some common scenarios where RMarkdown can help improve your data communication and organization.
* Shifting from R script files + lots of #comments to RMarkdown notebooks
* Turning your R code into HTML, PDFs, and Word docs with knitr
* Enhancing your RMarkdown files with text formatting and presentation options
* Doing more with code chunks: SQL queries & background jobs
10:00a - 10:15a Open Zoom, come say hi!
10:15a - 11:00 RMarkdown tutorial
11:00 - 11:15 Extra Q&A, planning future sessions
Have a question about using RMarkdown that you'd like Amanda to cover? Post a comment on the event page!
We'll send out a Zoom link to all attendees closer to the 28th, and include instructions for joining the meetup. All materials from the tutorial will be available on Github afterward.
As always we welcome people regardless of gender, but our group is intended for those who identify with a gender minority (trans women, cis women, trans men, non-binary, other). We expect all attendees to abide by our Code of Conduct.
See you there!
PS: We're always looking for presenters! If you're interested, please reach out to Amanda ([masked]) or Katie ([masked]).
