Common Core and Amy Kneessy FRIEND or FOE

From: Dean P.

As you all may know I have caught Amy lying on the radio and can see it on my website http://deanforschools.com/Lies.html

Check these quotes from the BPS website school board members workshop on 4-16-2013.
"Ms. Kneessy noted that there are groups who are adamantly opposed to Common Core.  She asked for specific verbiage on how are we going to respond to these groups."

"Ms. Kneessy requested an easy response so that everyone is saying the same message to parents and community members. She would like some core phrases and things to draw upon."

Why anyone would support this woman is beyond me.  AND why would Bill Mick read the Florida Today almost word for word like it was gospel on his radio show when we all know how Florida Today operates.

Want the truth, then do your part and stop acting like sheeple!

Bob,
Good info.  Can I publish this on eyeonbrevard?

On Wednesday, the Whites and the Weilers made the trip to Tallahassee for the workshop and press conference on Common Core. We attended and participated in both that morning. We spent the afternoon visiting various legislative offices to express our opposition to Common Core, but also to assist John Hallman and Paul Henry with Liberty First Network in their efforts to line up sponsors and co-sponsors for the 2nd Amendment Preservation Act. John and Paul are also heavily involved in the effort to stop common core. Both were there for Wednesday mornings meeting and press conference.

As you probably know the Governor had just issued an executive order on Common Core on Monday before we made the trip on Wednesday. There's been a lot of email traffic and other speculation on just what was accomplished with that executive order. Some believe that the Governor ended common core in Florida with his executive order. Dr. Karen Effrem was one of the presenters at the Wednesday morning meeting. What follows is her synopsis of what the executive order accomplished, and what it did not accomplish.

What Governor Scott's executive order and letters DO accomplish-
  • Acknowledge concerns about federal overreach
  • Acknowledge concerns about teaching, testing and data collection  of psychological attitudes and beliefs
  • Withdraw Florida as fiscal agent for PARCC
  • Orders an open process for selecting a new test
  • Seek to gather public input about the standards via 3 hearings and public comments
  • Show some willingness to change the standards to make them Florida's standards
  • Rejects the official CCSS text examples

What Governor Scott's executive order and letters DO NOT accomplish -
  • Stop the implementation of the Common Core standards
  • Prevent changes to the standards from being only superficial within the allowed 15% that Florida previously declined
  • Withdraw Florida from the PARCC consortium as stated by Commissioner Stewart
  • Prevent PARCC from being still considered as Florida's test as stated by Commissioner Stewart
  • Prevent Florida's test from being based on national Common Core standards
  • Stop or prohibit the teaching, testing and data collection of psychological attitudes & attributes
  • Limit the scope of data collection on students, families, and teachers

Everyone appreciated the "first step" that the governor took, but clearly, there is a tremendous amount of work left to be done and now is not the time to declare victory and retreat to the sidelines. Representative Debbie Mayfield was there also. As you know she has filed HB25, the "Stop Common Core" bill. She is in the process of developing changes to the bill to make it even stronger than it is now.

I encourage everyone to visit flstopcccoalition.org for more information.

Please also visit fltac.org\2a to get up to speed on the 2nd Amendment Preservation Act being promoted by the Florida Tenth Amendment Center. There is a groundswell of grassroots support  building around the state for this legislation. At every office we visited Wednesday afternoon we were told that they had received hundreds of emails in just the last few days supporting this legislation. Our message to them was get ready because thousands more are coming. There is a coalition building around this  legislation as well and the RLCCEF and the RLCFL will be right in the thick of it!
