What is your hiking experience? (e.g. how long have you been hiking, how often do you get out , where are some of your favorite places, etc.)

I hike as often as time permits. In the Boston area I hike the Blue Hills often to stay in shape. Recently hiked Mt. Jackson/Webster in NH. Last year backpacked 55 miles on the John Muir Trail in the Sierra Nevada (CA) and a the 4-Pass Loop (all 12.5K mtns) near Aspen, CO. In 2010 backpacked the entire John Muir Trail from Yosemite Valley to Mt. Whitney, 220 miles. In winter I also do some snow shoeing and cross-country skiing.

What type of hikes do you like best? (e.g. day hikes, overnight backpacks, hikes that may involve off-trail "bushwhacking", etc.)

Day hikes are my favorite but overnight backpacks are great to get way out in he wilderness grandeur.

What are your hiking goals? (e.g. just like hiking, enjoy being outdoors, looking to finish one of the "lists", etc.)

I just enjoy the outdoors but am planning to hike in the Alps in August, 2012.

What is the most strenuous/difficult hike that you have done? What made it so tough?

4-Pass Loop, CO. While not the longest backpack I've done, the terrain is very steep and rugged. The reward, of course, is the fantastic scenery and Rocky Mtn wildflowers.

Do you have any outdoor leadership experience? Would you be interested in organizing and leading your own events with the Random Hikers??

Sure as time permits. I have taken a WFA course and have organized day hikes and an informal 55-mile trip in CA.

Avid hiker relocated from northern CA.
