What we're about

Public Group

Welcome to the Phoenix Rock climbing Meet-up! This group is for people who have a passion for textured surfaces, chalk, and getting to the top by working your ass off. It is not a place for competing, but camaraderie of climbers who are here to encourage, learn, teach and meet some new people who have a common interest, regardless of experience. This is intended to be an open forum to meet other climbers. There will be at least two official meetups every month. Both indoor and outdoor climbing. We will alternate to different gyms around the valley. -No experience or gear is necessary for the indoor climbing meetups! Feel free to contact an organizer if you would like to lead a meetup. Please answer the profile questions to give the other climbers an idea of your skills and gear for planning trips. -Disclaimer: While generally climbing is a very safe sport ,it can be potentiallly deadly. This meetup group does not give training. You are responsible for your own safety. All of valley climbing gyms offer inexpensive classes in basic safety and skills.

Inspiration.
Be inspired, what brought you to climbing? I hope it was the fun experience of trying something new, some spark of an adventurous soul being fed its craving and you were instantly addicted to the wonders of climbing. Some may lose that spark or notice a plateau in your ability. Maybe you are confined by the boundaries of ratings, a little too afraid to hop on that 5.11 you see everyone on. Don't be afraid to try it, become inspired by it and give it a shot.
Lose the tape, the routes are not the only thing to climb, make up your own using existing holds and have others try it. If you’re feeling brave take your inspiration outside and find something new or leave the guide book at home. Open your eyes to climbing as a child would, forget the rules and the construct of climbing you have been taught and try to live as someone who has never experienced climbing and watch your plateau be driven back. Express your creativity through climbing. You might surprise yourself.
