Re: [rockclimbing-62] Group Activity

G'evening -

I had my first, and only, climbing experience outdoors in the rain, about a year ago in Alaska - one of the most exciting and terrifying experiences I've ever had. I have not made a meetup yet - about four weeks ago a sprained an ankle; just started physical therapy today. Hopefully, in a couple of months I'll be able to join you all for an indoor run.

Subject: [rockclimbing-62] Group Activity

Hi All,
The weather is getting better, and the time for outdoor climbing is getting near. A few new things are going to be worked on with the group soon.

First thing to approach is RSVP's. If you attend an event, whether it is indoors, or out, please RSVP. This helps the organizers keep track of what events and locations are doing well and which aren't. I know a lot of people who visit rockville, don't RSVP. This doesn't help the organizers, or people who potentially want to go to that event. If new people see more RSVP's, they may be more likely to go. Please take the time to sign up.

Second is that I want to remind everyone that we took over this group to become more than just climbing. We want to build social networks and have fun. If you are a beginner, or you feel that you aren't a very good climber, don't let that effect your decision to come out. Lots of people have made really good friends through this group and we would like to keep that trend going.

The member list is going to get updated soon. Anyone that hasn't attended an event, and has not logged in for over six months will be deleted. This group is for active people, who participate in climbing, or at least socially with other group members. Profiles that take up space with no activity don't help anyone. We want to know who truely wants to be in this group. We tried to help this with a membership fee, but that didn't help.

Finally, the monthly membership fees failed. So this year we are going to put small fees ($5 - $10)on all outdoor events that people participate in. This is to cover cost of the meetup website, costs for common gear, and for organizers time and energy organizing and setting up outdoor climbs. If you are someone who paid money towards membership in the fall, the money will be credited for you in upcoming events. I appreciate everyone who tried to make the membership fees work. It will not be forgotten.

So lets try to ramp up this group again and prepare for a lot of outdoor fun.

Thanks
Jim
