Free tickets to the Gun Show (5.8-5.10 Sport climbing at Exit 38, Far Side)

In what may be one of the last totally dry days at Exit 38, a trip to the Gun Show climbing area.

The Plan

We’ll be meeting at the Far Side parking lot at 9 a.m., and will dawdle for a moment to collect everyone before heading to the crag.
http://www.northbendrock.com/Directions/FarSideParkingArea.htm

The Location

At the fork that leads up to Easy Street or Interstate (it could be the one with 'ES' and 'IP' carved into a tree), head right. There will then be another fork that leads left to the bottom of Interstate, but you'll want to head right and proceed to Gun Show.

The Climbing

http://www.northbendrock.com/BookUpdates/Exit38/GunShow.htm
Sport climbs in the 5.8 To 5.10 range with a couple of 11's, but the book says that the area is still under development and webpages show other routes have manifested (the image is seven years old).

This area also offers the opportunity to practice, refine or learn some multi-pitch skills. There are 6 two pitch climbs to pit oneself against.

Communications
I'll email all the rsvp-ers nearer the date and we can trade numbers to ensure late arrivals or lostee's (it happens) can locate us or catch up or get directions (if I don't reply immediately give it a little while, I might be climbing, belaying someone, or just out of breath from hiking).

In the lot, look for the champagne colored Toyota Corola with the 'LA County Coroner' sticker. At the crags look for the Union Jack painted climbing helmet.

Stuff to Bring
Essentials: Harness, shoes, water, sunblock

Would be handy if you have them: Rope, rope bag, helmet, quick drawers, anchors, locking carabiners, slings, ATC, chalk, chalk bag.

Final Note: People inevitably take pictures and it is awesome to do so, but just in case....

- No pictures: If you are adverse to or just don't like your picture being taken please let us know so that should we see someone taking your picture we can promptly ask them not to. Also, feel free to ask those with a lens pointed at you to stop should that be your preference. We're all here to have fun, and if that's going to encroach on that don't hesitate to let members know.

- No posting of pictures: In addition, if you don’t want your picture posted on this MeetUp site, email me and I’ll delete any that pop up and I'll inform the contributor of this members wishes for future reference (if I miss any, again, email me and tell me which one/s).

- No external posting of pictures: And lastly, if you are okay with MeetUp use but adverse to any other usage, also email me and I’ll contact the contributor and let them know that the relevant image/s are not to be posted or shared anywhere save on this MeetUp.

This can't be enforced to the degree of a guarantee, but we ask all attendees to respect peoples wishes.

Otherwise we assume that everyone is okay with having their awesome-ness captured for posterity.

Found it on the first go, the rain didn't stick and the sun soon came out. Led and climbed some great routes including a most awesome 5.9. Found a brand new route not in the guide. Regained my faith in slab climbing, and someone else has inherited my curse of always banging their knees (but they did lead the hardest 5.9 I've ever encountered).

For carpooling, I'm in Factoria and can swing by the Eastgate Park and Ride at 8:30. Leave a comment if interested.

Hey all - I have a rope and quickdraws to contribute... but no car. Is anyone that's going interested in carpooling from north Seattle? I'm thinking of going, but its a non-starter if I can't find a car buddy (I'm willing to share the gas $, of course).
