Rail Travel Meetup Group Monthly Meetup

  • to
  • Joe's No Limits

124 West Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton, CA (map)

    33.870052 -117.925476

  • Head to the back room of the Joe's No Limits Restaurant
  • NEW LOCATION! NEW LOCATION! Starting Monday May 23, 2016 we will meet at Joe's No Limits Restaurant, 124 West Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton, CA 92832,[masked]-2600. More information and the menu can be found at:  http://joesnolimits.com/ This is about one half block west of where we used to meet at Knowlwood, which is no longer in business.

AJ has arranged with the owner of Joe's No Limits Restaurant to accommodate our group in the back room area of the restaurant. The front area of the restaurant features Monday Night Football starting at 5pm, but we should be fine in the back room area. They have a good menu and will be flexible in accommodating the varying size of our group at each Meetup.

The Meetup will continue to be held on the 4th MONDAY of every month (which is not always the last Monday of the month as some months have 5 Mondays).

Please try to arrive between 5pm and 5:30pm. The first people usually arrive by 5pm but some need a little more time to get to the Meetup from work.

At about 6:30pm or so, many in attendance head to the Fullerton Santa Fe Depot platform to watch the arrival and departure of the eastbound Amtrak Southwest Chief for Chicago. The train arrives into Fullerton about 6:45pm and departs at 6:50pm.

If you live in or are visiting Southern California and love to travel by rail, then you are very welcome to come to this Meetup!

We are not a passenger rail advocacy group nor a nuts and bolts railfan group. We are just a bunch of people that like to get together and discuss our rail travel experiences in a relaxed atmosphere over some food and drinks! If you like to travel by rail, or are interested in getting started in rail travel, then you should come to our meeting! If you have questions about travel on Amtrak, VIA Rail Canada, or on most other excursion and tourist railways, bring your questions to the meeting. Someone will probably have answers to your questions! Downtown Fullerton is real easy to get to by rail, bus or car. There is plenty of free parking on Monday evening near the station. Come to the meeting by rail! Fullerton has extensive rail and bus service. You can get to Downtown Fullerton from many parts of Orange, Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura Counties by either Amtrak or Metrolink trains, or in combination with other public transit rail and bus systems. Numerous OCTA bus routes also serve Downtown Fullerton. For exact schedules and routes, visit Amtrak.com, MetrolinkTrains.com, and www.OCTA.net For driving directions and more information, see:

    www.RTmeetup.com

Note: The 4th Monday in NOT ALWAYS the last Monday of the month. Some months have 5 Mondays and our Meetup will still normally be on the 4th Monday and not the last Monday of the month. Once in a while the Meetup will be held on a day other than the 4th Monday of the month such as when that 4th Monday falls on a holiday. When there is a change of Meetup day, that change will be posted here and notice will be sent to all members by e-mail in advance of the Meetup.
