Build a moderator bot for Slack

Wework Moorgate

Rude behavior. Angry or inappropriate messages. Explicit images. All of these things are used daily in social media platforms. So how can you filter out these issues? By building a chatbot that monitors messages and images. You can use this monitoring in a chat room like Slack or a website that allows reviews, and it can remove explicit images or inappropriate text. During this workshop, you'll create a chatbot that uses Serverless and AI services. The bot flow is using Watson Visual Recognition and Watson Natural Language Understanding to identify and remove explicit images and detect angry and inappropriate messages. When you have completed this workshop, you will understand how to: - Create a Slack bot using Serverless - Use an image recognition service to detect explicit images - Use a Natural Understanding service to detect emotions in a conversation This is a hands-on session so please bring a laptop along! Speaker: Arlemi - Developer Advocate (@arlemi) Agenda: 18.30 - 19.00: Registration, Food, Drinks and Networking 19.00 - 19.15: Quick reminder on bots, Image Recognition and Natural Language 19.15 - 21.00: Hands on workshop

Knative - Bringing Serverless to your Kubernetes Cluster (Tech-Talk)

CodeNode - Skills Matter

Kubernetes by large has won the platforms' war. However, for an application developer, the details of getting an application up and running on Kubernetes is beyond what they need to care about. Efforts of implementing Serverless on top of Kubernetes aim at making the user experience simpler by removing the unnecessary complexities of Kubernetes. Knative in particular is one of the major efforts in implementing Serverless on top of Kubernetes. In this talk we discuss the transition of starting with a Kubernetes application and making it serverless using Knative. We will show the user experience, and deployment experience of using Knative through real life examples. Finally we will discuss the path forward with serverless platforms on top of Kubernetes. Speaker: Nima Kaviani A senior cloud engineer with IBM. He is a contributor to Knative and Cloud Foundry's Eirini. Prior to that Nima was the contributor to Cloud Foundry's Diego for over two years. Nima holds a PhD in computer science and tweets and blogs about Serverless, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, and other distributed systems. Agenda: 18.30 - 19.00: Registration, Food, Drinks and Networking 19.00 - 20.30: Tech Talk
