It's been a while, I know, but I'm super excited to announce the next RubyBlind will be taking place on Wednesday, October 23rd at the brand spanking new Flatiron School campus downtown! There will be pizza and beer, as always, and a very special talk by my new friend Salman, whose going to be digging in to the underpinnings of Rails super-helpful-awesome DSLs. Details below, see you there!
Salman joined two cofounders to build a software startup in San Francisco, called Involver, which helped brands use social networks for marketing. After building out the company over a span of five years, Involver was acquired by Oracle, and since then Salman has moved to New York to explore the Big Apple's community. After working with Ruby/Rails for six years at Involver, he is now working on building iOS applications. In his free time, he teaches a back-end web development (Ruby/Rails) class at General Assembly, DJs house music, and eats chicken & rice at Halal Guys.
Ever looked at the declarations in your model (e.g. has_many, validate_presence_of, etc.) and wondered how they actually work behind the scenes? Attend this talk to get the full scoop. We'll explore how you can write your own DSLs to help abstract and automate functionality in your application with the power of dynamic Ruby.
