Post #: 1
Hi all,

Looking for a junior engineer to get in on the ground floor of a really exciting health care startup! If you're interested, send me a message, or send an email to the email ID software-jobs, at the same domain as the website below.

Check out http://www.healthloop... for details about the company; I've included the description below.

Ruby on Rails - Ground Floor Health Tech!

At HealthLoop, we're revolutionizing the ways people to interact with their doctors and doctors help their patients get better in between visits. We're looking for a versatile, curious, fun-loving software engineer to help complete development for our beta release, and build out functionality for our first commercial release. This is possibly the most exciting time in the timeline of a company -- get in on the ground floor, make an impact in a meaningful way, and learn and grow quickly!

We're funded - some in the bank, more on the way, and an amazing team behind us. Check out http://www.healthloop... for details.

Our stack includes:
- JS/JQuery on the front
- Ruby on Rails 3.1, with Test::Unit and shoulda
- PostgreSQL 9 with some pl/pgsql
- R way in the back
- Git

Job Description:
- Design and develop new features and functionality in our Rails application
- Be able and excited to extend past the Rails, into the guts of the application (front or back end, or both)
- Share application support duties (not front line!) through the beta phase and into commercialization
- Use your critical thinking skills to innovate and solve problems

The ideal candidate will have most of the following:
- An engineering degree
- 2-4 years industry experience as a software engineer
- Knowledge of Agile processes
- Knowledge of Ruby on Rails
- Experience writing SQL
- Experience writing Javascript and AJAX
- Strong development skills in a UNIX environment and familiarity with UNIX command line
- Knowledge of at least one source control system
- Ability to think outside the box and make decisions based on the problem space
- Ability to quickly write clean, well-organized code in any language

The most important requirements are that you're friendly and you possess excellent communication skills. You should be more interested in figuring things out and getting things done than in getting your way.

You must live in the Bay Area to be considered for this position. Our office is located in the South Bay.

Nice to haves:
- Background in medical software or bioinformatics systems
- Experience with highly secure (e.g. medical or banking) software

- Salary
- Health benefits
- Stock options

Send us your resume as well as a cover note that explains why you're the one we want for this role.
