  • Sunday Run in the Arboretum - NEW bakery! NEW route!

    This was Richard Farr's run originally scheduled for June 14 but everyone was out of town or having injury issues so we are repeating it today so that we could all enjoy an excellent route created by Richard. Starting at Capitol Hill's beautiful and highly calorific new outpost of Macrina Bakery, on Aloha / 19th E, we'll run south to Madison, down the hill to Lake Washington Blvd, and do five (!) different passes through the Arboretum - including one out to Foster Island - before winding our way back up through Interlaken to the pastries. 9 miles at a 9.30-ish pace. Stroller friendly. For anyone new to the group, welcome! Some may be faster than this and some slower, but we've never yet left anyone behind. Route here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/24761175 (Roughly - the Garmin app gets confused by all those azaleas or something.) Anyone wanting more punishment could start early or end late by heading W on Aloha to 14th, N to Volunteer Park, and doing a loop through or behind it onto Federal, then E again via the GAR cemetery - that's about another 2-3 depending on exactly what you do.

    My favourite route! About 9 miles at about 9:00-9:30 pace. Stroller friendly! This route is difficult to cut short but it is flat and easy all the way.     We'll run out and back to Seward Park along Lake Washington Blvd. on the flat and stroller-friendly path. Straight out and back is about 9 miles. Add a loop around the peninsula (close to 2.5 miles) and you're just shy of 11.5 miles.

    East from Top Pot along the Burke, across the canal on the University Bridge, around Lake Union and back via Nickerson and the Ballard Bridge. This is about 10 miles.
