Re: [running-304] Huge kickoff to Dempsey Indoor this year/No Sunday run this weekend

Thanks for this info Richard.  Maddie has a basketball game at 1:15 down at Jefferson so we won't make it to the first part.  However she really wants to see some of this event--especially the 3k--, so we will head there right after the game.   I imagine we will get there by 3pm or so.  We will keep our eyes out for you.

Tomorrow the “Husky Indoor Preview” will be starting off a bit stronger than in previous years!
In flight 4 of the men’s mile (will start just after 12:15) Matt Scherer will bring Galen Rupp (Silver medalist at last year’s Olympic 10,000 meter), Matt Centrowitz (Bronze medalist at the 2011 World Championships in the 1,500 and Olympic finalist in London last year) and Dorian Ulrey (2nd behind Centrowitz at the 2011 NCAA 1,500 meter final) through the half in 1:55 with every man for themself over the last two laps. Dempsey facility record of 3:54.52 WILL go down!

Link to 2011 NCAA Championship race:

Alas, 3rd place finisher in both this race and the record holder Solinsky/Rupp dual (former Hale standout Abdi Hassan) will be missing his first Husky Indoor Season in five years while drilling for oil in Williston, North Dakota!

Another highlight should be current high school standout Mary Cain, running in the fast flight of the 3,000 (joined by North Central’s (Spokane, WA.) Katie Knight who has been running well of late), in an attempt to break the National High School Indoor 3K record.

I’ll be around at about noon and keep an eye out for you! Off to do a few errands and back at about 4:00 to watch the Women’s 3K. The free entry makes it easy to come and go as you want. Parking in the Mountlake lots will be charged. Many upper campus lots are free on Saturday afternoon I believe.

No Sunday run this week for a variety of reasons. Aimie will get things going again next week from Green Lake Starbucks.

If I miss you this weekend I hope to see you on Wednesday next week.
