Greetings from Sandra and Aimie!

Greetings RS4L members!

A message here from Sandra and Aimie – same ol’ faces wearing slightly different hats.

As many of you have heard through word of mouth and Richard’s emails over the past couple months, Sandra and I have signed on as co-organizers of the RS4L group. Essentially what this means is that Richard is handing over the administrative reigns of the group to us and focussing his energies more on coaching.

Here’s what you need to know.

1) Wednesday interval workouts

First off, apologies for the oversight not getting last Wednesday’s workouts to the group! Hopefully it’s one of the very few hiccups as we transition. Richard will no longer be sending emails for intervals to those he’s not coaching. Instead, every Monday the Wednesday interval workout details will be posted to the events created on our Meetup and Facebook pages.

2) Meetup page

After much contemplation, Sandra and I – with the support of Richard – have decided it’s best to keep our Meetup page. We came to this decision based on how many great new members we’ve reached over the past few months, most of whom have become regulars, like Richard F., Bernadette, Erick and Maria! We plan to keep the Meetup page where we’re confident we’re already reaching the running community, while simultaneously posting to Facebook and continuing to find ways of building our presence there. As such, contrary to what we’ve been saying in the last couple months, please continue RSVPing to Meetup. We would be greatly appreciative if you would also take the time to RSVP on our Facebook page! www.facebook.com/runseattle4life

3) Meetup membership

The cost of maintaining our Meetup page is a little over $180 a year and comes due in March. While we’re not interested in creating a membership fee to participate in RS4L, we are hoping that our regular members might be willing to contribute a suggested amount of $10/year by the end of March to cover these costs. We’d happily accept monies in cash, by cheque or through PayPal [address removed].

Anything we receive above and beyond covering the Meetup fee we’ll hold onto to put toward next year’s fees or toward other areas of the group that you as members would like to see grow.

4) Other events

Sunday runs, social nights and other running events will continue being cross-posted to Meetup and Facebook. We happily welcome any of your ideas and suggestions for fun new runs, additional events or ways to help build our visibility in the community.

Finally, we just want to say how excited we are to be part of the group! What we see as our greatest strength and what distinguishes us as a running group in this running-saturated community is our genuine and enthusiastic commitment to welcoming all running abilities and goals, supporting and celebrating each other as we find and fit the love of running into our lives. So thanks for being awesome!

Cheers!

Sandra and Aimie
