Unimaginable worlds, teleportation, taking flight without even stepping into an airplane... the opportunities in virtual reality are endless! With virtually ::wink-wink:: no limitations, how do we focus our efforts around an actual need? Or solving real problems?

Join us for a workshop focused on how immersive technologies can be tools for an optimistic future. After decades of excitement, the medium of Virtual Reality has finally arrived. We believe it is changing the way we play, work, learn, and communicate. For this session, we will be leveraging User Centered Tools to develop concepts specifically around new use cases for how this medium can be a tool for better connectedness, creativity, communication, learning, and impact within and outside our organizations.

Speaker Bios:

Ingvald Smith-Kielland is a passionate design leader with over fifteen years of corporate and consulting experience. He lives and leads by placing communication, creativity and confidence at the core of his work.

As a partner at Pull, he heads up the Strategy practice. He leverages his multicultural and cross disciplinary background to help companies design and commercialize innovative products, services and ventures.

He has created and implemented design thinking methodologies at companies such as BMW Designworks and PepsiCo, where he also led multidisciplinary teams and global projects.

Ingvald is a graduate of the Art Center College of Design with a degree in product design, and holds numerous awards and patents. He has held speaking engagements at Harvard and USC, judged design awards and mentored at UCLA.

Viktor Venson is the Creative/Strategy Director at FutureSculpt, an innovation consultancy. Previously, he was working with global design firms, leading production, creative and strategy for clients such as Adidas, Sony, LG, Chevrolet, Electronic Arts and Visa. He is also the Founder of No Right Brain Left Behind, an educational initiative on a mission to increase creativity and innovation in education.

His work has been widely recognized by FastCompany, The Los Angeles Times, MSNBC, The Guardian, Domus, Cannes Lions, OneShow, Core77 Design, The Art Directors Club and others. He has held speaking engagements with Adobe, LEGO, Intel, Fashion Institute of Technology and the Danish Ministry of Culture. He sits on the Board of Advisors for Torrance Center of Creativity and Talent Development, and his work has been supported by The Wasserman Foundation, Emerson Collective, Citi Foundation, Goldhirsh Foundation, and Marcled Foundation.

John Sundermeyer is the Design Director and co-founder of Pull, where he helps companies bring the future into the present. Since 2012, John has driven the firm's growth from its infancy to work with some of the world's most daring companies, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 50.

John has served as a mentor to USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering Start-Up Garage, a strategic partner of the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator, and guest teacher at Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design.

Prior to Pull, John spent more than a decade working as a designer and innovation consultant for an array of global brands, including LG Electronics, Nissan, Avid Technology, Hamilton Medical, Patagonia, and Pepsi.

Sundermeyer is a graduate of Brunel University in London, and holds a degree in Industrial Design and Technology. His work has been recognized by numerous awards and publications.
