日本語: Japanese Lesson & Conversation (ALL levels!)

Come join us for a Japanese Lesson and Conversation. These meetups will be held weekly, with two distinct parts: 1. 日本語レッスン (a Japanese Lesson, geared toward beginners) and 2. 日本語会話 (Japanese Conversation).

The Japanese Lesson will start at 7:00 pm. This continuing series of lessons is designed to teach the basics of Japanese: reading, writing, grammar, pronunciation, etc. Barrett Balvanz, Japanese Professor at UOP, will be our sensei (teacher). Barrett will be teaching out of his own textbook. So if you're just starting out in your study of Japanese, or want to brush up on the basics, this is a great learning opportunity!

While these lessons are geared towards beginners, Japanese speakers of all levels are welcome to attend. However, if you would prefer to socialize during this time, please do so away from the lesson location.

Japanese Conversation will start around 8:30 pm. Many, if not most of us in this meetup, joined for the opportunity to use our Japanese conversation skills. Otagai ni ganbarimashou!

All levels are welcome. No matter your level of fluency, please come prepared to speak some Nihongo, even if it's just "konnichiwa." I think we'd all like to speak better Japanese, and the only way to do that is through practice. If you're new to the meetup, and have been to Japan, please bring pictures of your trip! It's a good way to introduce yourself and get conversations started.

Note: There will be a 30-minute period of Japanese Only during this portion of the meetup. Before and after the 30 minutes, you may speak whatever language you like (but we still encourage you to use Japanese =).
