Drinking Skeptically

Join Salt City Skeptics for Drinking Skeptically at Fiddler’s Elbow, 1063 East 2100 South, Salt Lake City, phone[masked]-9393. No agenda ... just getting acquainted, catching up, and carrying on multiple conversations at once. That may sound like utter confusion, but in fact it's fun that way.

Everyone, please note that effective immediately we have MOVED DRINKING SKEPTICALLY to FIDDLER'S ELBOW in Sugar House. So, next month, should autopilot take you to Squatters and you happen to notice we're not there, you'll know why. Should autopilot take you to Squatters and you DON'T notice we're not there, you've had too many beers.

Is the focus on the drinking, on the conversation, or on seeing what level of conversation can last in the presence of how much drink?

For me it's all about the conversation. Some people like the drinking of course, but it rarely interferes with the conversation.

Despite the name (which we stole, er, borrowed from social skeptic groups in other markets), it is all about getting together. If you wish to get soused it is your business, of course, but I have yet to see anyone do so at one of our gatherings. Many spend the evening sipping only water.

We'd love to come, but can't make it until after 8pm. Do these usually end at 9 or do people stay later?

Hi Christine. I hate to give an answer no more helpful than "it depends," but, well, it depends. Sometimes people hang around till 9:30 or even 10. Last month, I took off at 9 and was pleased to see that no one remaining behind showed any signs of leaving anytime soon. Please stop by, and let's hope the luck of the draw is in your favor when you do.
