La Jolla Tide Pools, beach strolls, terrifying stairs, and hot dogs.

Come and get your nature on as we explore the La Jolla Tide Pools. Meet up at the Glider Port, and head down to blacks and down the beach to the tide pools. Test your bravery as you stick your hand under rocks and see if anything grabs it...you know...for science.

After we can go back up the stairs and visit the glider port club for cheap and delicious hot dogs. I believe they might be cash only so bring a couple of dollars.

Low Tide should be about 3p so there should be plenty of time to explore and get back.

Gah! Sorry for the last minute cancel, not feeling so great. Have a good time, see you guys next time!

Hey folks, it didn't occur to me, but just FYI black's beach is clothing optional. The hot dogs line and getting your nature on now seems a bit of unintentional double entendre. I just thought the steps were great exercise, and it's a beautiful walk along the shore.

For those wishing not to be exposed to nudity, you can park near La Jolla Shores, the parking lot near Caroline's Seaside Cafe (8610 Kennel Way) is free during the weekends. The tide pools aren't too far north.

You're welcome to come back up to the glider port later, and join us for hot dogs.

oooh...that actually sounds rather fun, I don't think I can get the black flag in time though...I'll try.

My +1 bailed on me, but I'm still planning to come! Just wondering, is this a good event for me to bring my camera?

    February 14, 2014

    • Craig C.

I can't say yes or no, there's opportunities for taking pictures for sure, BUT, I know people who won't bring phones/cameras because there's precarious footing and lots of water. So, take at your own risk.

I was looking forward to this, but I'll be out of town, so I had to cancel. Maybe another time. Enjoy!

Stairs from the glider port? Really? We used to have to hike our gliders up from the beach on these horrible dirt paths when I was flying there.

    January 10, 2014

    • Craig C.

Yes. They're the terrifying stairs in the title.

      January 11, 2014

    • Craig C.

I mean, you can go down and back up whichever way you want, but it's a beautiful walk from the stairs to the pools, you can get there faster from la jolla shores or scripps (come down the stairs) if you want.
