What is a Bike & Horse Safety Trail Safety Clinic?
These clinics are designed to help mountain bikers and equestrians better understand how to safely and respectfully interact with each other on the trail. Through hands-on drills and real-world scenarios, riders of both bikes and horses will learn how to communicate, reduce trail conflict, and create safer, more enjoyable experiences for everyone sharing the outdoors. You learn a lot in a short amount of time and it's great fun!

Just as importantly, these sessions are great training opportunities for the horses themselves — helping them get comfortable around bikes in a safe, controlled environment before encountering riders out on the trail.

We’ll spend about two hours working together in and around the arena, practicing passing techniques, communication, and trail etiquette. And if you’re lucky, you may even get the chance to hop on a horse yourself and experience firsthand what the trail looks and feels like from the saddle.

How should I prepare for this?
Bring your bike and everything you’d normally bring for a ride. eBikes welcome. Bonus points if you bring a bike bell — making a little noise around the animals is encouraged!

After the clinic, stick around for pizza and potluck-style community hangout time.

Whether you ride bikes, horses, or both, this is a great opportunity to build connections and strengthen trail relationships in the Tijuana River Valley community.
