Los Penasquitos Canyon Beginner Ride

Hi all!  Anyone interested in a Sunday Morning beginner ride at Los Penasquitos Canyon? We'll be riding the power line climb, down cobbles, west to the Wagon Wheel crossing, east to the Carson's crossing, then back to the cars.  Distance will be 11 miles with about 615 feet of moderate climbing.  Beginner speed will be between 7 and 8 miles per hour with about 1 hour and 45 minutes of total time.  We'll have a couple of regroups throughout the ride to keep us all together.

Surprisingly well. Landed on lots of loose baby's heads at speed. One rib, no blood, lots of scuffing. Rode back to the car and even rode later that day. Tender now, a few weeks off likely. Can't remember the last time I had a good one so I guess I was due.

Enjoyed my first Meetup and ride with you all and beauty of Los Penasquitos. Thank you Michael for sweeping up the rear of the group and the trail tips. I also enjoyed the lunch with Bill and Tina and the opportunity of getting to meet new people.

Thank you, William! It was a beautiful ride this morning. And thanks, everyone for your patience with my wrong-turn delay. Next time I'll know the cut-off for Wagon Wheel.

Is anyone interested in lunch afterward in PQ? Some options: Que Pasa (Mexican with indoor & outdoor seating, moderate prices + adult beverages), Cotija's (Mexican with indoor seating, inexpensive fast-foodish), or Golden Bagle (bagels, sandwiches, salads, personal pizzas, smoothies; indoor & outdoor seating)? There are also Thai, Japanese and Smash Burger restaurants close by. And other riders might have other, better suggestions!

Hi I'm pretty much new to the group but would like to join the ride if that's cool. Does the trail loop back to where you'd park or are people shuttling back? I haven't been there yet.

    • William

Hi Jason, welcome to the group. The route we'll be taking will loop back and end where we started. No shuttling involved.

Hi everyone! Just in case the parking gets full next to the park, we are allowed to park across the street at the elementary school parking lot. I called the school and they said that it was ok... so that we can have fun mountain biking!!!
