It is my intention to create compositions that often go beyond what the eye can see. I am interested in how we perceive things and how visual images can be made to embody not only other elements of perception but also concepts such as time and narrative. For this exhibition entitled ‘Close to the Soil’, the land is depicted without the obvious presence of humans but always with the traces of the people who have tended the earth. It is important to perceive ourselves as the legacy and inheritors of those people who are our ancestors.
