Human Rights Watch Film Festival at the Museum of Photographic Arts - January 23-27.

There are several wonderful films this year - and one of them ties really well into the importance of photo and video documentation of human rights issues. MY AFGHANISTAN: LIFE IN THE FORBIDDEN ZONE ( ) is the story of what civilians are experiencing today in Afghanistan. Taking cameras into their hands, Afghan civilians take risks to document the ongoing violence in their daily lives and communities, and tell the story of what it’s like to live in a war zone.

Speaking after the film will be John Sifton, Advocacy Director of the Human Rights Watch Asia Division.

The film screens on Sat January 25 at 3pm. For tickets:

This film is followed by the 7pm screening of THE UNDOCUMENTED, a visually arresting film which tells the story of undocumented immigrants who risk their lives to cross into the united states - and the human rights workers and border patrol agents who seek to stop deaths in the desert.

This screening will be followed by discussion with the filmmaker Marco Williams and a film protagonist.
