La Jolla Cove Caves snorkel

The water has warmed up and is close to 70! Let's swim to the La Jolla Cove caves, it's about a 10 minute swim from the cove (around 1/4 mile or less). Fins will help a lot if you haven't swum out there before. Our group was there last Tuesday and there was lots of action on the sea lion front so please come ready for these large and in charge "merdogs" to be swimming around very closely in all their heft.

There is an "easy exit" via land and you walk back to the cove or swim back.

I will be doing this swim TWICE that day so anyone that can get to the cove early at 4:00, that will be my first venture. Then I'll be back at 5:30 for the late crew. Sorry but I won't be waiting around due to the setting sun so times are punctual!

I'm stuck at work and can't make this event! But I would love to try again while it is still warm.

I haven't been in the water for a couple months now. Has it gotten warm enough to not need a springsuit at all for an hour or so in the water? All work and no play makes me oblivious to useful bits of info like this. I'm also not a SoCal native.

The only people that I'd say need a wetsuit are people with little or no body fat...

      August 22, 2013

    • Mike(y) C

Or people that want to look super cool. Because everyone looks cool in a wetsuit.

    Hello,

I am from Los Angeles and I am very interested in attending your upcoming meet up for snorkeling. I was at the cove in La Jolla this past weekend and I would have to say that it was sooo amazing to see all the sites of La Jolla. I want to go snorkeling this Sunday 9/1/13. If anyone is planning to go please let me know :)

    Hello,

I lead volunteers to clean areas near Dulzura that get trashed by irresponsible sport shooters. We have done a lot of good out there and most of the shooting spots are much cleaner than they were when I started 6 months ago.

What I am looking for is detailed information of the area as I feel this would help motivate people if they can understand the significance and historic value of the area . One spot shows obvious remnants of an old homestead or mining operation. Some structural remains looks, to my uneducated eyes, to be a shed used to store TNT, but I cant be 100% sure.

Im looking to improve my knowledge of the area.

If its easier, please send links or emails directly (remove all "1's")

    Thanks in advance!

I went snorkeling with the leopard sharks at La Jolla Shores about a month ago and I've been dying to get in the water again. I haven't been able to go to any meetups for this group yet, so this will hopefully be my first.
