Re: [sdcto] DDoS mitigation services, anyone?

We do have a good idea about the attack. Still replaying it for details, but we know it was a UDP attack pumping through 5Gbps. Traffic was not legit at all. I'm working on chatting with the CEO of CloudFlare sometime and testing out the product. It will actually help us out in more then DDoS attacks which is the type of solution I was looking for. Will keep you posted as I learn more.

Cloudflare looks pretty neat.

A while back I looked into a DIY method for using nginx to solve this problem and this blog post was pretty helpful as far as using nginx constellations.  There's also a healthy dose of theory in there which helps explain the different types of DDoS attacks.

Have you been able to get a better idea of the type of attack? Are you sure it's not legit traffic? :)

If you need to dig in deeper I talked to a friend of mine who could probably help you out if he's not too busy.

Chris,

I wish I could help, but since we use FireHost they handle all of the DDOS mitigation for us.

Actually thanks Etienne for starting off this list and the group. I only suggested we get a list together for my own selfish purposes.

We are looking at DDoS mitigation service from a provider such as DoS Arrest, Prolexic, or Akamai. Does anyone have an opinion on such services and or recommend one over the other?

Thanks,
Chris-
