• Fruitluck Picnic (North County San Diego)
(Please read the description first:) Join us in a tiny orchard in Oceanside for a vegan-fruitarian potluck! We plan to sit in a circle in the garden under the sky and share food and stories. I have prepared blankets and will make fresh lemonade (with sugar) and hibiscus tea (without). Please bring easy to handle dishes based on fruits and seeds, sweet or not, vegetables are welcome in addition. A simple fresh fruit plate is a dish for us. Please bring sun and wind protection, just in case: the place is on the top of a hill. If it starts raining, we can go inside. I will send the address to your phone prior to the event, on Sunday morning, please message me your mobile number privately on meetup by then. It is near the Oceanside airport, about 3 miles East on 76 from I-5. When you arrive, please call me if the door bell is not heard. Looking forward to seeing you, Lena

  • Vegan Cooking Class "Vegan Tour of Spain" at Williams Sonoma (La Jolla)
Vegan Cooking Class at Williams Sonoma in La Jolla! UPDATE: Sold out *****Important! The class is limited to only 6 guests (and is being advertised to 14 vegan groups) so call the store at (858)[masked] to reserve your spot***** Vegan Tour of Spain Spain is well known for their amazing food! Join our chef for a fun and relaxing evening where you will learn to make three delicious- and classic- Spanish dishes. The first dish we’ll be preparing is one that has so many varieties, it’s surely one of the world’s most versatile comfort foods - Paella. This Spanish dish normally features seafood and often other meats. You will learn how to easily make this dish with vegan ingredients. The version you’ll learn to make in class includes oyster mushrooms (prepared to replace the seafood in the classic version) along with fresh vegetables. This is the perfect dish to make after a trip to a farmers market. Paella is well loved in Spain because it is economical, it can be made in large quantities to feed any number of guests, and it has a gorgeous presentation. This dish is a lot of fun to make and it allows you to express your creativity and sense of adventure. The second dish we will prepare in class is another classic Spanish comfort food. You will learn to make Patatas Bravas, or fierce potatoes. These are crispy fried potatoes served with a spicy tomato sauce and a garlic aioli. The version of this dish you’ll learn to make in class will be toned down on the “fierceness” so everyone can enjoy it but you will also learn how to customize it to the level of heat you desire. The final dish is Romesco Sauce with Roasted Vegetables. You’ll learn to make this traditional sauce using roasted red peppers and almonds. It has such a delicious fresh flavor and such a simple preparation, that you will be wanting to make it to use in other dishes. These recipes are easy enough for a novice cook and come together quickly, letting you enjoy your time preparing them. You can choose to participate in making the dishes during the class or just sit back, relax, and enjoy an evening with new friends. $40 (includes a full meal during the class and recipes.) June 26th at 6:00 PM Menu - Summer Vegetable Paella Patatas Bravas Romesco Sauce with Roasted Vegetables (The dishes can be prepared gluten-free - let the chef know at the start of class) *****Important! The class is limited to only 6 guests so call the store at (858)[masked] to reserve your spot*****

  • Vegan Cooking Class "Grilled Vegan Main Dishes " at Williams Sonoma (La Jolla)
Have you ever wondered what to throw on the grill for guests who normally eat meat? Join our chef for a fun and relaxing evening at our countertop grill. We’ll be preparing three easy main dishes that will impress your guests and maybe even inspire them to eat more plant based foods. These recipes are easy enough for a novice cook and come together quickly, letting you enjoy your party. Each of the dishes we’ll be preparing can even be made ahead and grilled at the last minute. We’ll be learning how to make a delicious veggie and grain burger patty that actually holds up to grilling. It has such an amazing texture and flavor. This patty is fantastic with traditional toppings or any that you can imagine. Next, we’ll be grilling Jambalaya packets that are loaded with fresh vegetables and topped with an amazing (lightly spiced) Cajun sauce. These will become a favorite for sure! The most unexpected dish you’ll be learning to make is a satay skewer made with sweet potatoes. These are completely addictive and fun to eat! You can choose to participate in making the dishes during the class or just sit back, relax, and enjoy an evening with new friends. FEE PER PERSON: $40 (includes a full meal during the class and recipes.) Menu - Loaded Beet Burgers Jambalaya Packets Sweet Potato Satay Skewers with peanut sauce *****Important! • Dinner at New Organic Almost Vegan Cafe at OH! Juice Cafe (Encinitas)
Join the North County Vegan group for a special evening at Oh! Juice Cafe, the amazing new organic almost vegan cafe in Encinitas. (There are a few juices that have honey in them). Now that I've eaten there once with San Diego Vegans, I think that this will become the new "Go To" Vegan Food place in San Diego. Their food is actually healthy, looks tantalizing, tastes delicious, and has good sized portions. Pricing for entrees are $8 to $14. They usually close at 6pm, but are staying open late just for our group. Its larger than I thought, and no one else except our 2 groups will be there. Here is the Yelp review with a lot of info: https://www.yelp.com/biz/oh-juice-cafe-encinitas-2?osq=oh+cafe Bring friends, non-vegan welcome too! We always have lots of good conversations. ALL ATTENDEES ARE EXPECTED TO ONLY PURCHASE AND CONSUME PLANT-BASED FOODS AND PRODUCTS AT ALL SDV MEETUPS. THANK YOU!

There are three Stops with with large parking lots within a few miles of the Woodley Ave stop. Taking the Orange Line is less expensive than our parking lot and you may avoid long waits for the parking lot. To the West there is the Balboa Orange Line Station just south of Victory Blvd. and two lots at the Reseda Orange Line Station on each side of Reseda Blvd. and Oxnard To the East there is a massive parking lot at the Sepulveda Orange Line Station.
