The Sierra Club will be offering a FREE Snowcamping Clinic as an introduction to their Snowcamping Training Series. This clinic is for anyone who is interested in experiencing the back-country during the winter. Backpackers, snow-shoers and back-country skiers will especially benefit in finding out how to access and enjoy the pristine wilderness during the snowy months of the year. By learning winter survival skills, you will be more confident to roam and explore the winter landscape when winter comes and all the crowds are gone.
Please RSVP if you plan on attending!
During the Snowcamping Clinic, Sierra Club Snowcamping Leaders will help you answer the following questions:
-What skills do I need to snowcamp and backpack in the winter?
-What summer gear will or won't work in the winter?
-Should I use skis or snowshoes?
-How fit do I need to be?
-How will I stay warm during the day, but especially at night?
-What will it be like to make camp in the snow?
-What will it be like at night?
There will be a free-flow Q and A session after the presentation so please bring your curiosity and questions with you so we can help you figure out if snowcamping is for you.
After the presentation is over and you want to delve deeper and try out snowcamping with a safe, supportive and fun group, join us as a student during our Snowcamping Training Series for 2017. The Training Series includes a full day of classroom instruction and two weekend trips for you to practice and finesse your newly acquired winter survival and snowcamping skills.
Applications are available at snowcamping.org
Deadline for the 2017 Snowcamping Training Series is December 17th, 2016.
