This event is crossed posted with other meetup groups. Take a close look at the pic of the small river with the smooth rocks, find the hikers sitting down. THIS COULD BE YOU!!

We are very, very lucky that this trip is even available as most of these trips of a lifetime with all companies are sold out for the entire 2011 season already. I have worked out a special group discount of $1950 per person. The single person price is $2,400.per person. The Grand Canyon is rated by most organizations as the NUMBER 1 NATURAL WONDER OF THE WORLD. One out of every 100 visitors to the Grand Canyon ever make down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado river. The price is a deeply discounted group rate. Included in the cost are the first night motel at Marble Canyon Lodge, a helicopter ride out of the Grand Canyon (like awesome), an airplane ride from the BAR 10 Ranch on the north rim, back to Las Vegas or Marble Canyon depending where you want to go. Included in the cost are raft crews who do all the cooking while you enjoy the beautiful Grand Canyon. Also included is all the rafts, camping equipment, food and cooking stuff. It costs money to have 4 or 5 expert working guides keep you safe on the river, and cook for you for 7 days and nights. Keep in mind these are very large 14 person rafts with motors. These are not small rafts with oars power. Also with a 7 day 7 night trip there will be many beautiful hiking opportunities at many of the river stops. The guides also know the most beautiful places to stop, hike, camp, and swim. You get wet enough from the rapids to keep you cool. Food but not Alcohol is provided. So if you want to bring the happy juice, bring it with you or ask where you can buy it when you book. It is not easily available in the Grand Canyon due to park rules. So I recommend u bring it with u if get in a carpool. If flying and on our bus from Page to marble Canyon Lodge, we will stop at a store for stuff. There are also Big Horn Sheep and the reintroduced California Condor with wingspans between 10 and 12 ft. Like prehistoric days.

When you call Grand Canyon Whitewater (GCW) to make your reservations at[masked], tell them you are with the David Starr group and also tell me ( David), your email, phone cell, and city where u live so I can put you on the group list. If you don’t provide me that info you will miss out on a lot of valuable info from me. Like carpools, cell numbers, group members etc.

Itinerary and Information for the

7 Day and 7 Night Grand Canyon Whitewater Rafting Trip June 10-17, 2011

JUNE 10, 2011 - THE DAY BEFORE THE RIVER TRIP BEGINS-

We will begin our trip in Marble Canyon Arizona. Marble Canyon is where we will put in the rafts.

It is important that you discuss room configuration with your GCW reservation agent Lindsay, so the proper rooms can be pre-booked.. Be sure you tell them you are with the David Starr group to get your group discount.

JUNE 11, 2011 - THE MORNING OF THE RIVER TRIP -

At 7:30 a.m. all passengers will gather at the building across the highway from Marble Canyon Lodge to meet the river guides. The guides will be there to answer questions as to what things you will need accessible during the day as you pack the rest of your gear into our waterproof bags. If your bag is small enough (approximately 24”x12”x12”) it will fit into our bag as-is. Otherwise, you may have to do some re-packing into our bags. After the orientation we will take you by van, 6 miles, to the launch point at Lee’s Ferry.

JUNE 11-16 - You will be traveling 187 river miles on your river journey through the canyon. Each day will consist of rapids, a lunch stop, exploration of the Canyon with mid-morning and mid-afternoon stops or hikes, and admiring the beauty of the canyon. TRIP UPDATE as of 29 March 2011-----------------------------------------------------------

Important: I have been informed that as of 29 March there are 15 paid people for the trip already. Which means there are only 13 of the 28 spots left on the rafts so pay ASAP!!! Since this is cross posted with other meetup groups, there already over 24 people total who RSVP’d for the trip already but have not paid. So I recommend you pay ASAP to confirm your trip.
The following is mine and others flight information. To maximize you getting group discounts on transportation to and from the trip. I recommend everyone do the following: On June 10th, catch an AM early morning flight from LAX, John Wayne, or Long Beach to Phoenix. Then book the Phoenix to Page Arizona flight ZK -[masked] on Great lakes Airline departing at 10:38AM on Fri-06/10/11. It arrives in Page Az. at 11:50AM.
My LAX to PHX flight is Southwest confirmation # X9ZSOY for $70, then $101 from Phoenix to Page, AZ. Our LA to Phoenix flight is on June 10th. It is flight 116 departing LAX at 5:45 am arriving in Phoenix at 7am.
If you are NOT driving to Marble Canyon, Az. It is very important for you to meetup at the Page Az. airport with my group at the end of the flight. We will meet at the baggage pickup area. From there a bus will pick us up and we’ll depart the Page airport to take us to a shopping plaza store where you buy alcohol and other stuff. Then the bus will take us to the Marble Canyon Lodge a (1 hr drive). The bus cost is only $7 per person. If you miss that bus your costs go way up. And u may have to catch a $100 shuttle. Also book the Phx to Page Az. flight ASAP in case that flight fills up. That is a key leg of our journey.
If your are carpooling / driving to Marble canyon Lodge on the 10th of June there is free parking for the week for your car at the Marble Canyon Lodge. So that is cool.
After the trip, a helicopter (included) will take us from bottom of the Grand Canyon to the BAR 10 ranch on the north side of the grand canyon ( what an awesome ride!). From there Vision Air (included) will fly us back either to Marble Canyon where your car is parked or fly you to Vegas to fly home. Since I am flying, the return trip home I booked Spirit airlines from Vegas to LAX, flight NK245 leaving Vegas at 6:50PM for $57.70 out the door. But be careful they charge for more than one bag. Talk to Lindsay when you book about how to buy alcohol and how much you can bring for those flying in. Lindsay also advised not to book any return flights home from Vegas before 5PM on the 17 June 2011. Best time to book your flight? Tuesdays at 3PM. Heard that is the least expensive time to book.
End of update--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The river portion of your trip will end early morning at Whitmore Wash. A scenic, 8-minute helicopter ride will take you from the river to the Bar 10 Ranch. There are showers at the ranch for your convenience. Lunch will be provided at the Bar 10 Ranch. A charter flight, included in the price, from the ranch will return you to your starting point in Las Vegas or Marble Canyon arriving around 2:00 p.m. (You will need to show your picture I.D. at the ranch before your flight). If you are returning to Las Vegas, transportation will then be provided to the main Las Vegas airport terminal (McCarran Airport) or to the Desert Rose Resort. Flight arrangements out of Las Vegas should not be scheduled before 4:30 PM on this final day. You will be traveling 187 river miles on your river journey through the canyon. Each day will consist of rapids, a lunch stop, exploration of the Canyon with mid-morning and mid-afternoon stops or hikes, and admiring the beauty of the canyon. Each day will be completed with your evening stop for camp, a river cooked meal, such as steak, potatoes, corn and a salad or salmon, broccoli, a salad and wild rice, and a restful night under a western sky.
