By Adi Baron

Abstract: JavaScript is a powerful language that combines Object-Oriented and Functional Programming. A new wave of languages that compile into JavaScript emphasize the power of this combination by suggesting better syntax. The first part of the talk will be an overview of OOP & FP with JavaScript and CoffeeScript, while in the second part we'll create a new language from scratch, writing our own grammar rules, lexer tokens, syntax tree, etc.

It was interesting and informative. I'm not into the Web aspects at my work, and this was a chance for me to meet something new.

    Interesting abstraction of javascript.
Some of the examples were not real world but it was fun to see the simplicity of coffeescript.
I don't like the fact that it's similar to YAML in that spaces and line breaks define the outcome of code.
That said it seems like a fun language to try and build some projects with.

The meeting was focused, the lecturer was knowledgeable, with a fast ramp-up.
Started half an hour later then scheduled.
