I'm not sure whether this will interest anyone or not, and I am deliberately forwarding it with Dave Fecak's comments intact. Still, just in case it appeals to anyone...

I’m guessing you got this message as well, but just in case you didn’t and were thinking someone in your group might want to go to Boulder for a conference in April. I replied to her, and she’s basically offering a free pass for the $50 event (Lambda), and a discount on the big ticket item ($800 Scala workshop). A bit sketchy - “Come to this conference for free, and while you’re here give us $800 for the workshop” - but might be good value for some. Links below.

Hi Dave,
I'm organizing a workshop and a conference that might interest your JUG members:

Spring into Scala — A three-day workshop that teaches Scala from the ground-up.
LambdaConf — A non-profit conference dedicated to functional programming on the JVM and beyond.
Both are being held in Boulder, Colorado, and take place the week of April 13th.

If there's some way you can spread the word to your members, I'd be happy to offer a discount code for the workshop, and 1 free LambdaConf pass you could hand out to members of the group (maybe lottery style or as a thank-you for speaking at the JUG).

Please let me know if you're interested and I'll send more information.

Kind Regards,

Courtney De Goes
