F1 is here, and movie fans' hearts are racing.

The new film, marketed as F1 the Movie, stars Brad Pitt as a racing star who returns to Formula One after a 30-year absence to save his old teammate's underdog squad from collapse. The movie is directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ehren Kruger, from a story by both of them. They both previously brought us Top Gun: Maverick, and they are counting on that story being a winning formula.

The picture was made with the collaboration of the FIA, Formula One's governing body, and features many real-life F1 drivers, including Lewis Hamilton, who co-produced the film.

Co-starring are Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies and Javier Bardem.

The film is based on the 2023 Formula One season and was filmed during both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Many Formula One stars appear in the film.

The cinematography is by Claudio Miranda; the music score is by Hans Zimmer.

F1 premiered on June 16 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and was theatrically released yesterday in the United States.
