A condensed performance of the eighth annual Can't Stop the Serenity takes place Friday, July 19 at the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse, with the full show occurring on Saturday, July 20. Enjoy an evening of Browncoat-style fun while supporting local charities!
Both shows include a screening of Joss Whedon's Serenity, costume contest, silent auction and raffle. The Saturday show also features live entertainment from comedian/musician Mikey Mason and a special showing of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog.
The costume contest has broadened this year to include best dressed as any character from the Joss Whedon Universe, including Firefly, Dr. Horrible, Buffy, Dollhouse, Avengers and more!
All proceeds go to benefit Equality Now, Kids Need to Read and the Tahirih Justice Center. The organizers will also be collecting non-perishable food items and pet supplies for donation to So Others Might Eat (SOME) and Homeward Trails Animal Rescue.
TICKETS: Tickets are $10.00 for the Friday show and $15.00 for the full Saturday show. They are available for purchase on the Drafthouse website. (We urge you to get your tickets as soon as possible. The event has sold out each of the last four years!)
MEETUP DETAILS: This "meetup" is a placeholder for the event. I will be working behind-the-scenes with the other assistant organizers and won't be able to coordinate group seating, etc.
We encourage any and everyone to coordinate with others in the comments or, perhaps, suggest a separate meetup (see tabs above).
