DC Area Scrabble Group Pages

Our events are ideal for individuals who enjoy casual Scrabble, dining out, and camaraderie with a fun and diverse group of people.

As our group members are located in various areas of the DC metro region, we regularly offer meetups at reasonably priced, group-friendly restaurants in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

The first round of games typically starts around the time the event is scheduled to begin. If you arrive later, you may have to wait a bit for the next round; however, it is often the case that other latecomers will join you before that. Many Scrabblers play up to two or three rounds per event, and some will even stay until the closing of the location.

This group is not focused on tournament play. As the level of players is varied--from first-timers to advanced players--we play open book Scrabble where the use of an official Scrabble dictionary or cheat sheet is permitted.

Although not required, if you have a Scrabble board game or dictionary, please bring them along. In many cases, having a board with you will allow you to start a game sooner if you need to arrive later.

We do request a $1 donation per gathering to cover the cost of’s fees as well as to modestly compensate some of the restaurant staff at locations that do not have designated wait staff. The managers of these restaurants have graciously allowed our large group to take up their space for several hours and then the staff cleans up once we leave. We want to ensure that we are communicating our gratefulness to these folks for continuing to allow us this opportunity to enjoy fun evenings of Scrabble.

We always welcome new members at our events, and we hope to see you soon!
