16275 Espola Road, Poway, CA
Join us for a group walk at the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve in Poway on December 11, 2016 (Sunday) at 07:30 in the morning. The trail is 3.8 miles round trip and it is a dirt path. Mika and I will be where the parking loops back around. We will start walking at 07:45 so people can find parking.
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Don't forget to bring water for yourself and your pup. Dogs must be on leash and the leash has to be 6ft in length or less (City of Poway law). Please bring poop bags to pick up after your dog. There are trash cans throughout the trail for convenience.
Warning: there are ticks and rattlesnakes in the area. Please keep yourself and your pup on the trail. After the walk, it's a great idea to check your pup for ticks.
Here is the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve's website which contains park rules and any other information that you might be interested in: http://www.blueskyreserve.org/index.html
We highly discourage using a extendable leash (flexi leash) for this walk because of the possibility of running into a rattlesnake. An extendable leash offer less control when you need to pull your pup back from something and the last thing we want is to have a pup get bitten by a rattler.
You and your pup are welcome to walk at your own pace, whether that is faster or slower than the group. Also, don't feel like you need to complete the whole walk, if you need to turn around and head back or stop to sniff some p-mail, that's ok too! This is just a chance for you and your pup to get out, see the beauty of nature, and stretch your legs.
There will be a sign in sheet (and sign out) on one of the cars (Look for a silver Prius with a bright pink/red paper clipped on the trunk window wiper.) for people to sign in and out of. When you're done hiking, please mark the "Check out" column, so we know you made it safely back. This is in case anyone gets separated from the group and decides to turn back early. Mika and I will be staying after the hike until everyone has checked out of the trail.
Everyone is invited to the walk, so if you have some friends who want to walk the trail with us, invite them too!
***If there is forecast of rain, the pack walk will be moved to Lake Miramar where the path is paved.***
