CARNAGE (still at the Metro)

  • Jan 21, 2012 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Carnage is based on Yasmina Reza's Tony award-winning play God of Carnage, which deals with two couples who meet after their kids are involved in a scuffle at the park. Penelope (Jodie Foster) and Michael (John C. Reilly) invite Alan (Christoph Waltz) and Nancy (Kate Winslet) to their apartment to discuss the incident that led to their son's two front teeth being knocked out.  As the title suggests, the situation soon spirals out of control, in both shocking and hilarious ways.  Directed by Roman Polanski, with a screenplay by Polanski and Reza.

The film begins at 6:40, so we will meet between 6:20 and 6:30 and head into the theater five minutes before showtime.  After the end credits have finished rolling, we will regroup in the lobby and then head to Cafe on the Ave to discuss our reaction to the film.  While we hope you will join us, the coffee stop is optional.

There's validated parking in the lot at the Metro, and Bus 44 and 49 stop within a few minutes walk of the theater.  The film is 80 minutes long (1 hour, 20 minutes) and is rated R.

Hope to see you there!

The movie adaptation was so-so, though funny, but the conversation afterwards was great. Thanks for coming, everyone!

Thanks for the heads-up, Paul. Looking at the weather reports, I've decided to move this to Saturday, even though it's supposed to snow again on that day.

    Greg,
Just a heads up. It was very icy in that area last night by 7:00pm. Moreso than in my neighborhood (Ballard).

Notice to everyone attending Carnage: if the weather is bad tomorrow night, I will be rescheduling this meetup for Saturday. Check back here after 2:30 tomorrow to see what my decision is.

Oh yes....if you want to take advantage of the partial validation, make a note of your parking stall #. Let them know when you buy your movie ticket. You'll get your ticket and an envelope to pay for your parking - at a reduced rate.

The Metro Cinema gives partial validation for parking on the upper level of the lot just north of their building. The Metro also has a completely free parking lot, if you don't mind walking a bit. It's on the east side of Roosevelt, within the block south of 45th.
