FREE MOVIE SCREENING: "Hyde Park on Hudson" - Early Entry

  • Nov 28, 2012 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

My Eastside Social Club received passes for a FREE screening and EARLY entry to "Hyde Park on Hudson" and if we have extra passes, I'd like to invited Seattle Cinema club to join us. The movie starts at 7pm, but you must be there by 6pm to get in.  Cannot say if you'd be allowed in after 6:15pm so don't be late. Space is limited and not guaranteed, but chances are good for you getting in. ~Claudette

This is how it works:

  1. If there is space, the people on the list will get early entry. 1st come 1st served.  Availability not guaranteed. Previous no-shows may not be admitted.
  2. This event is for Members only. If you note +1 (or the like), your RSVP will be removed.
  3. Arrive no later than 6pm. Meet along the side of the escalator facing the poster wall (i.e. on the right as you going up the escalator). Claudette will arrive by 6pm to hand out the screening tickets at the theater. If you are late, you may lose your spot.
  4. Join the wait list in case there are no-shows.  Trying something different to ensure we don't waste tickets: If you sign up for the wait list (do join the list, not just show up), come to the theatre to see if you can make the early entry group. Though space is not guaranteed, I might be able to get extra tickets so do sign up and show up.  :)

Story: In June 1939, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (Academy Award nominee Bill Murray) and his wife Eleanor (Olivia Williams) host the King and Queen of England (Samuel West and Olivia Colman) for a weekend at the Roosevelt home at Hyde Park on Hudson, in upstate New York – the first-ever visit of a reigning English monarch to America. With Britain facing imminent war with Germany, the Royals are desperately looking to FDR for support. But international affairs must be juggled with the complexities of FDR’s domestic establishment, as wife, mother, and mistresses all conspire to make the royal weekend an unforgettable one. Seen through the eyes of Daisy (Academy Award nominee Laura Linney), Franklin’s neighbor and intimate, the weekend will produce not only a special relationship between two great nations, but, for Daisy – and through her, for us all – a deeper understanding of the mysteries of love and friendship.

FYI: A couple other select Meetup groups have been invited to this event so there will be more people attending than you see RSVPd here.  Please sign up for one group only.

Thanks to everyone who made it out. Everyone who showed up got to join the advanced entry group. Too bad more didn't show up as the theater was only about 3/4 full and just I thought/mentioned, you probably could have gotten in too, so next time... ;)

So hope you enjoyed the film. I thought it was cute, but got me wanting to look up some historical facts and re-watch The King's Speech - LOL! Can't wait to see you at the next screening or other event. :D

Based on your note below I'm not sure if I'm on the guaranteed list or the maybe list. Can you clarify? Thank you!

Thanks Patrizia, that is exactly my question. From Claudette's notes it appears that we are add-on's to the group getting "early entry" and even though I've moved from the "Waiting" to the "Attending" group I'm still not really confirmed and won't be until I show up. Is that right?

Well no one is ever really confirmed until they show up, but there are passes available for sure. See you tonight.

Just a reminder, while I've opened a few more spots, remember they are not guaranteed. Any extra spots I have will go to those on the Yes list first (in order of RSVP), then to those on the Wait List. However, show up if you want the change to see this film. Can't say what'll happen. Sometimes they are overbooked and other times people have been let in without passes, so if you're game, see you Wednesday!

Last time I tried getting there at 6pm traffic was so bad, it was too late. I come from Marysville, so a little far for me. But thanks for invite.

Well if you can ever get off early...all the movie screenings I get are for 7pm movie start times and you have to be there by 6pm for the early entry to get in. Those without the op for early entry get there even earlier to wait in line, like around 5pm or earlier, depending on the movie.
