Let's check out what Bellingham, WA has to offer

Le's get caffeinated :-) and have a great time

I recently scouted out the Bellingham area and found 3 really cute coffee places. A 4th place was mentioned to be checked out, since they do pour-overs. (please read all )

Since we start out in Fairhaven, and parking is limited but free, I would encourage to carpool. Please be engagement free that day so we can enjoy it till whenever.

STARTING POINT: at 11am in front of Bead Bazar

http://bellinghambeadbazaar.com/beads-supplies-2

Walk together along the water front to Woods coffee shop.

No info was revealed in regards to coffee/beans/roaster etc. It is worth checking out because of the location.

After that we are walking for about 1.5 miles to Bellingham, WA to check out Espresso Avellino. There, the Barista told me to check out Onyx.

http://www.espressoavellino. com/

So, Onyx Coffee Bar, which I have not visited, will be a surprise for all of us. But, so I was told, they do pour-over's. Check out the link...it is pretty interesting

Last, but not least, is The blackdrop. This coffee shop won the "Best coffee shop" award in Bellingham for the past 6 years. They feature drip coffee and cold brew coffee

http://blackdropcoffeehouse.com/

I am looking forward in exploring the area and the coffee shops and I am sure it will provide lots of fuel for conversations.

There is a Farmers Market along the way to fill our bellies, as well as some cute restaurants. Some of the coffee shops serve food as well.

The preliminary roundtrip distance is 6.60 miles

I will post maps and a list of restaurant ,which are along the way, a bit later. I wanted to give everyone a chance to check their calendar first.

Everyone that is planning to meet up at 9:30 AM, the Park & Ride location is 1524 N 200th St. This is the Aurora Village Transit Center which is near the gas pumps for the COSTCO. When we meet there, we can divide into cars. I'll be emailing this message as well.

I'm not a fan of Woods coffeeshop, I would encourage you guys to check out Black Drop and Onyx and some of the other smaller establishments around Bellingham. I lived an entire summer in Bellingham and found a few gems in this town, but Woods is certainly just another Starbucks w/diff label. Over roasted, low-grade coffee, IMO. Just to let you know, Onyx is only open on Saturday for a few hours now.. Too bad, as this was the best coffee I ever had.

    February 3, 2013

    • Luiz

I would suggest you contact Onyx in advance to agree on the details of the visit. As far as I remember, they don't have room for 9 people at once on the front bar.

Already committed on Sat, but Bellingham and Fairhaven are cool places. If you want something different you could take Amtrak up & back to Fairhaven and bus it around town.

There are cool museums of Radio & Electricity, Whatcom County, and Bellingham Railway
