Getting bored with the usual route to West Tiger 3? Let's take the Nook trail to Talus Rocks followed by the less traveled section line trail to the summit. This trail is much steeper and more challenging than the main route as it goes straight up the mountain, similar in steepness to the cable line trail. This trail comes out on the cable line just below the summit. We will return down the main West Tiger 3 trail. Bring a headlamp or flashlight as it will be starting to get dark as are we are returning to the cars.
Distance 6mi round trip. Elevation Gain 2,000ft. Rating Moderate/Strenuous. Pace Moderate. We will meet at the gate at the end of the paved road. Do not drive throught the gate and up the gravel road which leads to the main trail head.
Driving directions: Take I-90 to exit 20 (High Point) and make a right and then another quick right. Follow the row of cars to the gate at the end of the paved road. Park at the side of the road. We will meet near the gate.
