Chromebook -- Give me a bash?

Jason Kennedy will report on his experiences developing on the Chromebook Pixel.

Please RSVP up on our Google Plus Event page.

As developers many of us have become accustomed to shelling out for new Macbook's. Seeing Chris Wilson present the April GDG on a Chromebook Pixel inspired a conversation about how much development we can practically do on the Chromebook and new strategies and configurations. Brian at Google got wind of Jason's intention and reputation for being published in Linux world and made a Chromebook Pixel available to explore the capabilities.

Please RSVP on Google+ as were are trying out G+ for our events.

i'd love to see a live stream or video archive of this presentation, being a chromebook user. I'm in California.

We didn't manage to pull off a live-stream this time, Howard, my apologies! I'll be trying to run Hangouts on Air going forward, though!

Here's the link to my slides, though I talked most of the time. My email's on there, so ask me anything. Mostly including this for the links to dev apps. Thanks for the great time, guys, awesome audience, good questions and I loved the chats after.

Thanks Jason, Mike, Clive and SURF staff.

I look forward to watching the evolution of Chromium OS as an OS for a reasonable post-PC workstation.
Despite the bunch of tips that I thank Jason for having shown, Chrome OS is still far from being a reasonable replacement to my MacBook (Jason's deck title yesterday put Chromebook Pixel and MacBook Pro at both sides of a "vs.")
I can't do Android development with a comparable experience, nor C++ (for example for Chrome NaCl) and the list of cannot's is longer.
But I learned that I can do more than what I initially thought and I'll closely follow the evolution of this gift that Google puts in our hands.

It was great to see you all, guys, and I look forward to keeping in touch.

Thanks for coming by and for your comments, Diego! I don't think it's the solution for everyone, and right now it's still admittedly a work in progress with substitutions and work-arounds, but it's getting there!
