Hike up to Camp Muir. I am planning on hiking up on Tuesday, Aug. 5th spending approximately 4 hrs on the ascent. This is a great conditioning hike for anyone planning a longer backpacking trip or a mountain ascent. However, you need to be in good shape already and confident in your ability as this is a strenuous hike. Being able to climb up Mt. Si in two hours is the minimum fitness level for this hike
The plan is to meet at the I-5/512 Park N Ride south of Tacoma at 7 am. Depending on where you live and who all is interested, other car pooling arrangements can be made. We will drive up to Paradise and leave from the parking lot there at about 9 am. The hike is about 4 miles which isn't too long though you are gaining about 4,600 feet of elevation. You should plan on carrying trekking poles and microspikes in addition to the 10 essentials.
Plan on sharing money for gas and stopping at the Copper Creek Inn for burgers and beer on the way home.
