Trying some Greek! Dinner!!! Opa!!!!!....

Another little hole in the wall family place for my foodie friends !!

My friends family's is Greek. I'm usually pretty critical of Greek restaurants because the food usually doesn't compare to the food I eat at their home or at family gatherings. Plaka is different; it is without a doubt the best Greek restaurant I've ever been to in Seattle.

We sat down and we were welcomed. Yes you know this old fashion ritual of being welcomed into their place. I think there is a distinct difference from most everywhere else you go. I also don't think I can explain being welcomed to you... you have to feel it.

There was a real playful time with the waiter who was one of the sons, the father was also there and seemed like a few brothers and other family. Pics of past family members adorn the walls, mom is cooking in the kitchen and grandma Georgia is sitting at the bar.  Yes this is a real family owned place the pictures on the wall are all warm and you really feel part of the family.

This restaurant uses local products from farmers markets as well as authentic products from Greece (olive oil) and spices. You are getting well made, authentic food, unlike other restaurants. You are paying for its authenticity. That is what sets it apart and that is what makes it taste great! You get what you pay for. The prices here are higher, and I would much rather pay a few dollars more for authentic products. You leave this place feeling like you had a home cooked meal.
