Hike Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme

Take exit 72 off I-95 south to Rt 156 and turn right. Go about a third of a mile to a small parking area and trailhead diagonal to the Wine Emporium. DO NOT go in the main park entrance. The trailhead and parking area are a little over half a mile on RT 156 to the west (toward Old Lyme) of the main entrance.

Look for a white Honda CRV.

For hiking map, please go to and their Rocky Neck State Park description.

We will enter the park and proceed on woods trails south to scenic overlooks, colorful foliage, across the sandy beach and loop around to return to the cars. If its as nice as they predict, we can soak up some rays on LI Sound. Fairly level hiking, maybe 5 - 6 miles in length.

If enough would like, there are plenty of nice restaurants in the area for apres hike snacks and drinks such as the Hideaway in Old Lyme.

For last minute stuff, call John at 860.575.2608.

Nestled between a river and a brook, I very much enjoyed these trails! Scenic views of Long Island Sound beaches, brook ponds and river valley. Good company with two new faces.

I am a VERY infrequent participant in this group but might be able to make it tomorrow. Is it okay if I am able to show up at the last minute but can't let you know ahead?

Sorry to miss this! Sat and Sun afternoons are usually the best time for me to go hiking. Workshop this Sun. Have fun!
