How can we promote Humanism in a favorable light?

Fanatics and hardcore believers are spinning so much bullshit I can hardly breathe, I am so refreshed to find other free thinking individuals in my area who are not the sheep I encounter every day. I am so tired of people's response to saying 'I do not believe in God', that now I laugh at them when they talk about 'him' and tell them they are superstitious fools. I am a reader, of almost everything out there (except sci fi and romance) and I choose to educate myself through many books, not just one. I want to actively promote this way of thinking in our area, by positive works in the community to show the cult of christ that we are great people, God not included.
