What are your thoughts about the Semantic Web? Is it the next Big Thing?

Semantic Web is the logical progression of the web. But it needs a platform that everybody can adopt. Something like Wikipedia, but an organized, open source, light weight, granular, simple database. The requirements pose a tough challenge.

Which new technologies would you like to learn? Have you worked with any "semantic" technologies such as XML, RDF, OWL, GRDDL, or SPARQL?

I have used all the semantic technologies and tools in building my own KB platform.

Which applications or web sites will make the Semantic Web a reality in the public eye?

Semantic Web should not be visible to the public at all. Any application that will eliminate the need for user to go to search engine will be the winner. I am betting on presenting news apps.

Introduction

I am an entrepreneur trying to build Semantic Web/Knowledge Base/ Artificial Intelligence tools to help news/media industry. I would love to chat with group members on related ideas.
