What we're about

IoT-SensemakersAMS is a volunteer based community dedicated to connecting people and sharing knowledge, ideas & hands-on experience.

Everybody is welcome: Technical, non-technical or just interested. If you like to know more, be involved or are just curious: Just come to one of our meetups:

• 1th Wednesday: DIY hands-on (http://www.sensemakersams.org/about/lets-meet-up/projects/) in the Makerspace at OBA (https://www.oba.nl/), there are 3Dprinters, lasercutters, sensors arduino, RaspberryPi etc. We also learn by collaborating on projects that impact the city (waterquality, sound) with e.g. Marineterrein (https://www.marineterrein.nl/), Waag (http://waag.org) & SensingClues (https://sensingclues.org/)

• 3th Wednesday: Sharing knowledge, ideas & connecting people at CodamCollege (https://www.codam.nl/)

As we want to bring you interesting speakers, who can share their thoughts, experiences and/or wisdom, we would appreciate you tipping us off when you know or heard about someone!

Do-It-Yourself @ Sensemakers Labs

Amsterdam Public Library (OBA)

Due to the Corona-crisis we can't meet offline. But... that doesn't mean that we can't enjoy the vibe of working together on (different/individual) projects! On Wednesday May 6th 19:00 hours, we want to start with our virtual-OBA meetings. There will be a general channel and channels per project/topic. We can chat, talk, screen demo’s and presentations and use video to: - discuss our projects, - work on your own projects at home, knowing that there's people to.. - ask questions and help solve problems, - make plans, start projects, and most importantly be social and have fun… We have chosen Discord as our conferencing system. To join: - Create a user name on Discord https://discordapp.com - Install the Discord app on your machine (Mac, Windows, IoS, Android or browser) - Join https://discord.gg/brAVcMZ on Wednesday, May 6th, 19:00 hours. If you want specific topics on the agenda, please send Manon a direct message here on Meetup. We're also online every Wednesday via Skype (we use Skype and Discord in parallel), send Manon your Skypename if you want to be added! Every first Wednesday of the month we have a non-organized meetup were OBA sponsors us with their location, 3Dprinter & lasercutter. During this evening you can start learning to work with Arduino, Raspberry Pi or work on a prototype to 3Dprint etc. Note that we don't provide a course, it is all about DIY, but you can join and help in our mutual projects or find people to collaborate on a project! Currently we are collaborating on smart soundsensors (Gijs) and the Astroplant (Ted/Michiel), both well underway, but you can still participate in the Astroplant, for example by starting with the challenges from block 1 & 2, to test and improve our instructions: https://github.com/sensemakersamsterdam/astroplant_explorer/wiki. In March we launched a new project (Mariana) on privacy-proof wearables for kids to stimulate healthier living feel free to join & help! For more ideas & materials you can also check: https://www.sensemakersams.org/internet-of-things-sensemakers-amsterdam/projects-diy/ We start at 18:00 and end the evening around 21:00. There are 3Dprinters, lasercutters, tools and enough outlets available! So just bring your laptop (no chromebook!), ideas and lets get going! If you don't have a laptop, please dm Manon. There is a cafe on the split level on the ground floor and a restaurant on the 7th, but please note that food & drinks are not allowed in the makerspace. If you want to sponsor us hardware, software and/or (cloud)services, please contact Ted or Manon. Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SensemakersA
