Every first Wednesday of the month we have a non-organized meetup were OBA sponsors us with their location. During this evening you can start learning to work with Arduino, Microbit or work on a prototype to 3Dprint etc. Note that we don't provide a course, it is all about DIY, but you can also collaborate on mutual projects or find people to join your own projects! Currently we are working on e.g. (improving) a plant monitoring system for irrigation & the monitoring of water quality (http://waterbuoy.sensemakers.info/). We start at 18:00 and end the evening around 21:00. There are 3Dprinters, lasercutters, tools and enough outlets available! So bring in your stuff and lets get going! There is a cafe on the split level on the ground floor, but please note that food & drinks are not allowed in the makerspace. If you want to sponsor us hardware, software and/or (cloud)services, please contact Ted or Manon.

  • Sensing Sounds & AI for a more livable city
The just released WHO report on noise polution provides strong evidence that noise is one of the top environmental hazards to both physical and mental health and well-being in the European Region. In Collaboration with the Marineterrein we're looking into the possibility to use soundsensors & artificial intelligence to help create a more livable city. The evening will be opened by Arre Zuurmond, Ombudsman Metropool Regio Amsterdam. Next we'll have talks from the Waag and startups like SensorTeam & SensingClues, sharing the latest possibilities and experiences. We end with a brainstorm on how we, as a community, can contribute & learn in a collaboration to generate new ideas and protoypes as we did in the waterquality project. Doors open at 18.00 for networking. The program starts at 18.30 & ends around 21.00. ==================================== During or meetups we talk and do Internet-of-Things, Sensors, Arduino, RaspPi, electronics and more. Ranging from projects (Air Quality Egg, Open Thermostat, waterbuoy), presentations (IoT& Blockchain, Security, AI etc), events and just getting together to talk. Everybody is welcome: Technical, non-technical or just interested. If you like to know more, be involved or are just curious: Just come to one of our regular meetups every third Wednesday of the Month at Makerversity Amsterdam. In addition, we want to bring in speakers for each event, who can share their thoughts, experiences and/or wisdom. So if you know someone, let us know. • Sensemaking at the Amsterdam Biolabs
This evening we visit the Amsterdam Biolabs, program: 18.00 doors open, drinks & networking 19.00 introduction to Amsterdam Biolabs, context & possibilities 19.15 DigiBio (Federico Muffatto) DigiBio is bridging the digital and biological world with AI and automation. Federico will be sharing their experiences on building bio-solutions with IoT. 19.45 Hack the Smart Ant City (Roland van Dierendonck & Wouter Moraal) Smart Ant City is an miniature city inhabited by ants. The city is filled with cameras and sensors that can be controlled via a computer, which lets visitors hack the Smart Ant City. Roland will introduce us to this concept. 20.15 Tour around the lab. The Amsterdam Biolabs Foundation, located in Amsterdam’s A Lab, is a collaborative biobase to experiment on new ideas at the intersection of Software, Hardware and Biology. It provides space and equipment for entrepreneurs, innovators, academics, researchers, designers, artists and makers to work on innovative biology and biotech projects. With a strong emphasis on a community driven exchange of knowledge, expertise, experience and inspiration by means of meetups and workshops, while at the same time offering space and tools to work and bring ideas into realization, the Amsterdam Biolabs Foundation forms an important creative hub for the local biosciences-based ecosystem of Amsterdam. This evening is a great opportunity for Sensemakers to learn about the Biotech possibilities & challenges. Every 3th Wednesday of the month we have lectures, discussions about IoT-related subjects. ==================================== Follow us on twitter:SensemakersAMS (https://twitter.com/sensemakersa) or join us on Slack by providing us your emailadress.
