Sensemakers monthly newsletter-January

Hi all,

The year 2020 started very well for us! We can still have our meetups on the innovation hub Marineterrein every month, we will be hosted at the Commandantswoning, starting next week with a talk about smart cities beyond the hype (do we really need that many camera’s?) and a presentation about getting from ideation to prototyping smart adaptive toys that make the world more accessible and fun for children with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Join us here!

Furthermore Oblivion.nl will sponsor new starter-kits for our DIY-evenings! The Lab evenings are becoming more popular, so we decided to give more structure to the starter projects and are happy that Karijn will join more often to help people learn work with Arduino. But in essence it’s still Do-It-Yourself 😉
A lot of people want to contribute in the Astroplant project. The explorer kits Ted & Gijs developed are a great way to learn about Rasberry Pi, sensors and plant health. The group is now focusing on improving the code and testing the different sensors. Thanks to some designers and people with plant expertise joining, we can now also start thinking and working on designs that allow people, like the kids visiting the library, to interact with the Astroplants in a positive and intuitive way!

And, last but not least, we have 2 specials planned. In February Micropython basics part 2 and on March 7 together with Metis Montessori Lyceum we will celebrate the 8th birthday of Raspberry Pi with an AmsterJam!
