GaGaBlaBla and a Clothing Swap

Last week, I lost my virginity. My clothing swap virginity, that is. I have been invited to a ton of them, but never went because I was afraid of synthetic fibers. But, to my surprise, it was fun and I went away with some super CUTE stuff. A pair of pinkish red Chucks, some beautiful brown Anthropology pieces, a fun little newspaper boy hat. The funnest part of it was getting it all for FREE and not worrying if I planned on keeping it forever. So, anyhow, I've been thinking about you all and how I've been neglecting my favorite sewing group and thought, hey, I'd like you all to get to go to a clothing swap too! Problem is, First Samples dosen't have a space right now. Then I remembered this new place on South 1st that I had run across: GAGA. Love the name. Their blog is GAGABLABLA. How clever. Anyhow, I called them up, and Molly, who is coordinating Swaporamarama this year, said that they had a clothing swap planned for the 4th of October and would love to have you all join! Treasure City Thrift will even be donating a bunch of stuff for the event. This event is FREE! Bring clothes to swap though. South 1st Street businesses and artists are also hosting their annual Art Walk and donation drive for the Capitol Area Food Bank on that same day from 12pm till dark. The Art Walk includes music, jewelry, performances, and artwork by some of Austin's most gifted artists. Organizers encourage Austinites to save some cash and ozone by biking, busing or walking to this event. G.A.G.A. offers free secured bike parking and discount cards for South 1st Street businesses. Non-perishable items and cash donation will be collected for the Capitol Area Food Bank. For every dollar donated, the Food Bank can provide five meals to a hungry child, adult, or senior. How fun will this be? And don't forget, Halloween is here in a few weeks so keep in mind things that might work for your costume. You are dressing up, right???? See you there! Shauna

That was the first clothing swap that I had ever been to, and it certainly won't be the last!! It was wonderful to get rid of clothing that I wasn't using, one person's trash is another's treasure. I hope that more people can come to the next one!

It was a lot of fun. I am always taking stuff to thrift stores to give away & shopping at thrift stores - it was really nice to see the people I was sharing my stuff with & to get to freely choose items not worring if it doesn't end up perfect - just tell me when the next swap is!
