What is your history with sewing?

I started hand-sewing doll clothes when I was VERY little. As a teenager I took a sewing class and I've been machine sewing ever since. My grandmother could do all the needle arts and was a great help and inspiration.

Tell us about your sewing machine(s).

I love my Bernina 1080. It has a few built-in decorative stitches that I've used some. I guess I don't feel a need for a fancy embroidery machine. I also have a Babylock serger and a Janome machine that does just a cover stitch.

When you make a mistake while sewing, what do you do?

I keep working on it til it's fixed so I can finish the project. I never abandon it. I'm too stubborn.

What's your favorite thing you've ever sewn? Can we see a picture?

I wish I had the outfit I made in the '60's from a Mary Quant pattern - cotton voile blouse with orange background and small flowers, paired with an orange A-line skirt with curved side panels - very challenging!

If skill, time, and resources were no issue, what would you sew right now?

A travel outfit consisting of a shell, comfortable pants, and lightweight jacket, made out of some kind of absolutely gorgeous fabric that wouldn't wrinkle and would look appropriate in a wide range of situations.

I've been sewing since I was a little kid. It's my favorite hobby. Garment sewing is my first love, but I also enjoy home decorating sewing. I want to meet others who enjoy sewing, learning techniques, and sharing ideas.

What Karel R. is saying about this Meetup Group

I'm very curious to see how the project of creating slopers will unfold. This is going to be a very interesting project. We will all learn a lot. I expect a lot of 'lightbulb' moments.
